New Beginnings

My journey with photography began when I was in high school. My grandma graciously offered me my grandfather’s old Minolta film camera to use after I enrolled in my first photography course with no idea what to expect. I quickly fell in love with taking pictures and at the risk of sounding completely cheesy, I guess you could say things just “clicked” for me.

From the very beginning my family was incredibly supportive of my new found hobby, and to this day I still remember all of the fun weekends spent driving in the car with my mom to my next great photoshoot location. Sure, my early photographs were a tad cliche – train tracks fading into the distance, LOTS of flowers, you get the picture (I’m on a roll with my puns today) – but when I look at those images the memories instantly come flooding back to me. I think that is what I love most about photography – how a great picture has the ability to make you remember things you’d almost forgotten. That’s where the true value lies.

After learning the basics in my first photography class, I decided to further pursue my interest in photography by enrolling in another photography course. My study halls were spent developing prints and film in the school darkroom and it hit me that I’d finally found my passion in life. I made the decision to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I spent 3 years working constantly toward my photography degree. I graduated in 2010, and while starting a career in photography hasn’t been the easiest journey, I’m happy to finally be giving it my all!

I look forward to using this blog as a way to share my photographs with the world around me while also growing my business. Stay tuned and thanks for reading. 🙂
